TJEE 2027 Exam Pattern
TJEE is an offline, OMR-based examination comprising multiple-choice questions. Each subject contains 30 compulsory questions, with 4 marks awarded for every correct answer and 1 mark deducted for every incorrect answer.
The total marks depend on the examination group selected by the candidate. Group A includes Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics; Group B includes Physics, Chemistry and Biology; and Group C includes all four subjects.
Group-wise Marks
TJEE Exam Timings (2026)
Group A candidates take shifts 1 and 3, Group B candidates take shifts 1 and 2, and Group C candidates take all three.
TJEE Marking Scheme
The question paper contains four options for each question. Candidates must mark their responses on the OMR sheet using the permitted pen. The examination pattern and marking scheme for TJEE 2027 will be confirmed in the official prospectus.
TJEE 2027 Exam Centres
The TJEE 2027 exam centre list has not been announced yet. As per the TJEE 2026 prospectus, the exam was conducted at eight locations in Tripura: Agartala, Ambassa, Bishalgarh, Dharmanagar, Kailasahar, Khowai, Santirbazar and Udaipur.
Candidates are expected to select their preferred exam location while filling out the TJEE 2027 application form. The final exam centre and venue will be mentioned on the admit card. The number and locations of exam centres for 2027 will be confirmed in the upcoming prospectus.
TBJEE Courses List
The Tripura Joint Entrance Examination (TJEE) is used for admission to selected undergraduate professional courses against seats available for the state of Tripura. The courses available depend on the participating institutions, sponsoring departments and seat matrix published for the admission year. The courses associated with TJEE include:
The above list describes broad course categories associated with TJEE. It should not be interpreted as a confirmed list of every course available through TJEE 2027. The actual courses, institutions and subject requirements must be checked against the admission-year seat matrix.
Colleges Accepting TJEE Scores
Institutions that have been associated with TJEE admissions include Tripura Institute of Technology (TIT), Agartala, for B.Tech courses and the College of Agriculture, Tripura, for applicable B.Sc. (Hons.) Agriculture seats. However, the participating institutions and courses may change from one admission year to another. Not every course offered by an institution is necessarily filled through TJEE. The admission-year seat matrix determines which institutions and courses are available for counselling.
TJEE Syllabus
TBJEE sets the TJEE questions from its own syllabus, which is published on the official website. As per the TJEE 2026 prospectus, the syllabus for each subject is divided into 10 modules. Candidates should prepare from this official syllabus, as it may differ from the JEE Main syllabus or the NEET syllabus. The sample questions printed in the 2026 prospectus show the level of the exam:
All four are Class 11 and 12 level topics. Candidates should download the module-wise syllabus from the TBJEE website once the TJEE 2027 prospectus is released.
TJEE 2027 Admit Card
The TJEE 2027 admit card release date has not been announced. Candidates will be able to download it from the TBJEE official website once it is released. As per the 2026 prospectus, the admit card was scheduled for the second week of April.
Candidates must pay the application fee by the prescribed deadline to receive their admit card. They should carry it to the examination and show it to the invigilator when required. After downloading the admit card, candidates should verify their name, roll number, photograph, exam group, centre and paper timings. Any errors should be reported to TBJEE immediately.
TJEE 2027 Answer Key
The TJEE 2027 provisional answer key will be released on the TBJEE official website after the examination. Candidates can check their answers and submit objections through their login, within the deadline announced by the board. Subject experts will review the objections, and the final answer key will be used to evaluate the OMR answer sheets.
The release date of the TJEE 2027 answer key and the objection window have not been announced. As per the TJEE 2026 prospectus, the provisional answer key was scheduled for 26 April 2026, with objections allowed until 7 May 2026. The 2027 schedule will be confirmed in the upcoming notification.
TJEE Result
TBJEE will publish the result for the TJEE 2027 session on its official website after the examination. Candidates will be able to check their rank and merit-list status using the details required on the result portal.
The TJEE 2026 result was declared on 22 May 2026. As per the 2026 prospectus, the result was scheduled for the end of May. The board does not allow post-result review.
How the TJEE Merit List Is Prepared
TBJEE prepares separate merit lists for the PCM and PCB groups. The qualifying criteria for TJEE 2027 will be confirmed in the upcoming prospectus.
- PCM group: Merit is based on Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
- PCB group: Merit is based on Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- As per the TJEE 2026 prospectus, candidates scoring below 10 out of 360 were not included in the merit list.
- The board publishes the percentile score along with the rank.
Tie-breaking Rules
How Is the TJEE Percentile Calculated?
The TJEE percentile indicates a candidate’s performance compared with other candidates. It is different from the percentage of marks scored. A candidate with the highest score receives a percentile of 100. The percentile reflects a candidate’s relative performance, not the percentage of marks obtained.

TJEE 2026 Result Statistics: Reported Figures
News reports on the TJEE 2026 result cited 4,731 candidates, but they do not consistently clarify whether this figure represents candidates who registered or those who appeared for the examination. The group-wise figures reported separately are 1,864 for PCM and 3,873 for PCB. These figures total 5,737 because candidates who appeared for both groups are counted in each group.
As TBJEE has not been cited as confirming the overall count through an official result abstract, the figures below should be treated as media-reported data, not verified candidate totals.
Gender-wise and Group-wise Figures (as reported)
These counts come from press coverage of the 2026 result. We have left out percentages because the base figure of 4,731 is unconfirmed.
Candidates who opted for both groups are counted in the PCM and PCB figures below, so group-wise counts overlap and should not be added together.
Group-wise Appeared and Merit-list Candidates
Each row covers one group only. A student who sat in both groups shows up in both rows, so adding the two appeared figures (5,737) does not give a head count. Under the 2026 prospectus, anyone scoring below 10 out of 360 was kept off the merit list. TBJEE has not said yet whether the same cut-off applies in 2027.
What this means for TJEE 2027 candidates: TBJEE prepares separate merit lists for PCM and PCB candidates. Candidates should compare their rank with the relevant course-wise seat matrix. Being on the merit list does not guarantee admission. Seat allotment depends on rank, eligibility, category, seat availability and counselling.
Counselling and Seat Allotment
TBJEE conducts online counselling for candidates on the TJEE merit lists, separately for PCM and PCB. In 2026, the PCM merit list had 1,745 candidates and the PCB merit list had 3,684; candidates who took both groups could appear on both lists. Counselling registration for TJEE 2026 was held in June 2026.
TJEE Counselling Process
As per the TJEE 2026 prospectus:
- Online registration: After the result, candidates register on the counselling portal within the given dates. Counselling is held only for registered candidates.
- Document upload: Candidates upload a scanned copy of the original Class 12 mark sheet and enter their total and subject-wise marks. PRTC, date of birth certificate and category, disability or ESM certificates are uploaded if not already submitted. Only scanned originals or DigiLocker-verified documents are accepted.
- Scrutiny: TBJEE checks the documents. Only accepted candidates can fill in choices; rejected candidates are not considered for counselling.
- Choice filling: Accepted candidates list their preferred courses and institutes in order, using the seat matrix on the website.
- Seat allotment in rounds: Selected candidates receive nomination letters, and the sponsoring departments nominate them for admission.
Important Counselling Rules (TJEE 2026)
- Candidates must pass Theory and Practical separately in each subject of their group (PCM or PCB). A candidate who fails in either Physics or Chemistry cannot get any seat through TJEE.
- Candidates with a compartment in Class 12 can register with a valid rank, but are considered only in subsequent rounds after submitting the improved pass mark sheet. Until then, they cannot be allotted a seat.
- A candidate who does not register and fill in choices in the first round cannot take part in the second or later rounds.
- Selection for a course is subject to the eligibility criteria and cut-off marks, if any, of the institute that sponsors the seat.
- A candidate allotted a seat is not considered for further allotment unless the seat is surrendered.
- TBJEE can change a candidate's allotment if any discrepancy is found in the documents.
Documents Required for TJEE Counselling
The TJEE 2026 prospectus lists the following original documents for verification at offline counselling, if held:
Candidates applying under the defence, deputation or ex-serviceman provisions need additional proof of residence and employment, as listed in the prospectus.
Preparation Tips for TJEE 2027
The plan below assumes TJEE 2027 falls in April again. A few habits that suit this exam's format:
- Follow the official syllabus: Prepare only the topics listed in the official TJEE syllabus.
- Practise with a timer: Physics and Chemistry are asked in one combined paper, so candidates should practise switching between both subjects within a single sitting.
- Analyse mistakes: Classify each mistake as a concept gap, calculation error or time issue, and work on the most frequent type first.
- Be careful with negative marking: Attempt the questions you are confident about first, and use mock tests to check your accuracy on uncertain questions.
- Solve previous year papers: Previous papers help in understanding the question style and difficulty level, but questions are not guaranteed to repeat.
Preparing for JEE Main along with TJEE: Many PCM students also sit JEE Main 2027. Both exams test Class 11 and 12 Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, so most of the preparation overlaps. The formats differ, though: TJEE is a pen-and-paper OMR test, while JEE Main is computer-based. For the application schedule, see the JEE Main 2027 registration updates.
Other Engineering Entrance Exams
TJEE fills only the seats set aside for Tripura, so many students sit other entrance exams too. Two good starting points are our list of top entrance exams in India and the guide to state engineering entrance exams other than JEE Main.
Note: NIT Agartala, the National Institute of Technology in Tripura, admits B.Tech students through JEE Main, not through TJEE.
